Banff Festivals for Serious Foodies

Pork lovers, rejoice! Every April, the Cochon555 tour makes a stop in Banff National Park with the goal to support family farmers and educate consumers about the agricultural importance of eating heritage breed pigs.

At this epic North American culinary competition, 5 local chefs, each cooking one whole heritage breed pig raised by a family farm, prepare six different dishes for the event guests and celebrity judges for voting. The winner will be crowned the “Prince or Princess of Pork” of Banff National Park and will advance to the finale, the Grand Cochon.

  1. I’m actually heading to Banff this summer and all these places look like drool-worthy stops! I would love to embark on the Eat the Castle food tour. I love to learn about food in the context of history and culture. That makes the entire tasting experience that much more memorable and significant to my trip. I would also love to eat at Cochoon where they cook heritage, local pigs. Supporting local businesses is definitely essential and I would love for my dollars to go towards the local economy.

    Banff is one of the top things on my Chasing Daydreams Bucket List. I am hoping to visit late 2020! I hope to stop in to several of these while there!

  9. I would happily try any of these restaurants, but Bison and Park definitely stand out to me the most! As a big beer drinker, I’d love to check out Banff Beer Festival too. I am long overdue for a return trip to Banff, so hopefully I can make that happen soon and will check out some of the places on your guide!

  10. My favourite for sure is Block Bistro. And I also like the new French resto inside Fairmont Banff Springs. Juniper is always a good one, too!

  12. This is a scrumptious and mouth-watering list! I particularly like the sound of Izakaya dining style at Block Kitchen + Bar. The red devil calamari drizzled with spicy Thai sauce sounds devilishly delicious. Tribute to Craft Spirits Festival is right down my alley too! Getting to taste unique cocktails and meeting the distillers sound awesome! Once i’m done with all that I’ll be checking out Little Wild Coffee for a tasty cup of coffee. I love the thought of all the scenic views at restaurants in Banff.  Great to find all Canadian ingredients at the Maple Leaf Grill and Lounge.  We loved when we found wild game in Banff.  So great to hear that we could find bison carpaccio at the Bison Restaurant.  But octopus carpaccio is my favourite.  So I would be heading to Three Ravens.  So many great food choices.  Time to head back to Banff.
