[Seoul] Exploring The Fascinating Ice World at Ice Museum (아이스뮤지엄)

Following our tour at the Trick Eye Museum in Hongdae, Kev and I continued our museum-hopping at Ice Museum, which is located right across the main hall. We didn’t plan to go inside the Ice Museum originally (living in Canada is cold enough and diminishes any fantasy I had about the icy world). However, the ticket to the Trick Eye Museum includes the entrance fee to the Ice Museum. We figured to get our money’s worth, we might as well go experience and enjoy ice sculptures, igloos and ice slides!
After passing the ticketing staff, we walked into the ice castle that is constantly kept under -5℃. From classic Arctic-themed characters (Eskimos, Santa Claus, reindeer, penguins) to ice slides, you can see all types of ice sculptures in the museum.
We were obviously not dressed for the “weather”. Before we lost too much body heat and passed out, we toured around the space as quickly as possible. Fortunately, it is not that big!

Imagine sitting on an ice toilet seat… I think my butt would be stuck onto the frozen surface!
The most popular feature of the Ice Museum is the ice slide. Grab a seat pad and slide down! It took me back to my childhood 😛
That concluded our visit to the Ice Museum. As I said, there isn’t much to see. I wouldn’t pay to get in here, but it is a nice add-on tour for the Trick Eye Museum, especially on a hot summer day 🙂

How to get to Ice Museum?
Take subway to Hongik University Station (line 2), exit 9. Go straight and turn left on the first intersection. Then turn right on the 2nd alley (in between Tony Moly and Holika Holika). Ice Museum will be on your right as you continue on for about 100m.
