Just opened in April 2015, Common Ground has become the new hotspot for Korean students and young adults to hangout and shop for creative goods. Built with 200 bright blue cargo containers, this 3-storey shopping center is a sure index of contemporary architectural hipness. Being just one block away from the Konkuk University subway station makes it so conveniently accessible!
The mall is made up with 2 main buildings, “Street Market” and “Market Mall”, which are connected by the outdoor “Culture Space”. With a collection of 70 stores, Common Ground brings trending, independent local brands one step closer to the public. If you would like to grab a quick bite, don’t worry. Food trucks are parked in the “Culture Space” and additional eateries can be find on the rooftop terrace.
Contrary to our stereotype of the dank and dark spaces inside shipping containers, the high ceilings and glass windows allow plenty of natural light to brighten up the interior spaces. We almost forgot we were walking inside the logistic containers!
What is sold here? The mall is small, but you can find anything in the categories of clothing, shoes, fashion items, lifestyle products and cosmetics. I wish I came on a weekend – that is when flea market, flower & gardening market and live performances are usually held.
If you’re someone who despises large global brands or enjoy exploring local artisan products, Common Ground is definitely a trendy destination that’s worth checking out!

Looks like a very interesting place… I should make some time to go to this place when I go there this winter ^0^
Definitely! And it is a lot busier on the weekend since there will be some events/market set up outdoor. Have fun!
