Whenever I travel to a new city, I like to wander around in local neighborhoods and shop at local supermarkets. These opportunities let me join the locals in their day-to-day activities.  They also allow me to learn interesting trivia about people’s everyday life. As you all know, I’m a food maniac so let’s focus on food, shall we? 😛

Guess who I saw in Seattle?

..

.

My favorite ~ Mickey Mouse!!

This special edition of jelly beans comes with mixed varieties of flavours including coconut, cherry, apple, lemon and licorice. Nothing special really, but the packaging and bold Mickey Mouse colors are enough to DRIVE ME CRAZY (scream~~)

I also found another packaging with Mickey Mouse 😀

Anyone into zombie-related stuff? Kev and I found some zombie blood at a candy store that happens to sell “unique” sweets on the side. Do you dare to drink this green beverage?

Or do you prefer human blood? The color is equally scary to me 😛

Speaking of beverages, I bet you are fairly familiar with energy drinks. But do you know that they start making energy “chews”? I wonder if the texture is similar to eating gummi candy and if it is as stimulating and effective as energy drinks. I don’t like the taste of energy drinks so this idea doesn’t persuade me to give it a try.

As for healthier choices, Seattleites can now buy freshly squeezed orange juice from vending machines!! Pretty cool, eh?

Haha, for a second I thought we were in Japan 😛

Hungry yet? Walking down the cookie aisle in a supermarket, we found a limited edition Oreo.

Caramel apple flavour?!?! The colors are definitely appealing. However, I’m not a fan of caramel so I passed. If you ever tried it, do let me know how it tasted!

Okay, it is time to try some food. We bought a few snacks on our last day in Seattle (see photo below).

First of all, I’d like to introduce to you my favorite cookie brand- Pepperidge Farm’s Milano cookies!!! They are sinfully delicious. The cookies are so buttery that they quickly fall apart and melt in your mouth. We were lucky to find the pumpkin spice flavour!!

Crunchy chips + spicy flavour = MUST TRY for spicy food lovers!! I’ve never seen nor tried this brand of chips, but the Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips with Mango Habanero really heated things up. I was torn between the fiery heat of habanero peppers and the sweetness of mangos. Extremely spicy but so addicting!

Lastly, I tried 2 interesting flavours of chocolate – coconut curry from Theo (a local chocolate company) and edamame sea salt from jcoco.

an interesting blend of exotic toasted coconut and strong curry spices

whole toasted edamame beans offered extra crunchiness and added an Asian touch to the chocolate

Before we part, let me share with you a funny sign we saw in the Ballard neighborhood. Have a good laugh and enjoy your day, everyone!

  1. Really interesting I have never seen any of those products.

  2. My kids would have a field day if they saw these candies in a store. The energy blood drink looks interesting, not sure how it would taste. Some are these I’ve never seen before. Thanks for sharing and linking up to the #WeekendWanderlust this week.
