Planning a wedding or honeymoon in Costa Rica? Make La Fortuna your destination! This charming town has stolen our hearts completely and was one of our most favourite regions in Costa Rica. What stood out the most was our stay at The Springs Resort and Spa at Arenal, where we celebrated our wedding anniversary!
Honeymooners’ Top Pick: The Springs Resort and Spa at Arenal
What makes The Springs honeymoon-worthy?
It has everything just-married couples need for relaxation and romance: from solitude and breathtaking views to luxury and the royal treatment, they’ve got you covered for your romantic honeymoon in Costa Rica.
But what really sets The Springs apart from the other hotels in La Fortuna is its secluded location. Sitting atop the Arenal Valley, the dreamy resort brings you close to the Arenal Volcano and rewards you with jaw-dropping views of the Arenal volcano, the lush valley, and the surrounding towns. Trust me, you won’t find better volcano views from a resort anywhere else!

Exclusive Access To Hot Springs!
Another thing worth mentioning is the on-site hot springs and thermal pools. As a guest at this 165-acre luxury hotel, you will have direct access to as many as 28 freeform, landscaped spring-fed pools throughout the property!
A popular thing to do here is “pool hopping.” The temperature and environment vary as you discover what’s around. From slightly warm to piping hot, cascading waterfalls to forest tranquility, The Springs allows you to find the right one for your mood! It’s easy to forget the time and spend half a day soaking in healing waters, like what we did!
Note: Not a hotel guest? Hot Springs Day Pass (starting at $60 for 2 days) are available for purchase!

Vista Grande Guest Room
The Springs offers a choice of 74 rooms, each of which ensures privacy and boasts a generous space for guests to unwind. Our Vista Grande Guest Room was located in the Aracari building, just a short walk from the Main building. From the moment we arrived, the room mesmerized us with its open space and warm decor.
Our room exuded luxury yet blended seamlessly into the surrounding environment with its rustically elegant wooden furnishings. Besides the king-sized bed, the 720 sq. ft. interior space also includes a full-size pullout sofa, a twin-size daybed, and a marble bathroom with a jacuzzi tub (big enough to fit 2 people!).
But for those looking for that extra wow factor, the picturesque volcano view from the private balcony really sealed the deal!
The room comes equipped with practical amenities you’d expect, from hairdryer to coffee-maker, as well as a flatscreen TV (with full media package) and complimentary Wi-Fi to keep you entertained, informed and connected.

Romantic Dining at Las Ventanas
It can be a pain to drive out to the town to find food. Luckily, The Springs offers multiple dining options to satisfy a very broad array of palettes – from local Latin cuisine to traditional Japanese dishes!
A dinner at Las Ventanas is a must, especially for couples and newlyweds! Not only does it offer stellar volcano views, this fine-dining restaurant also serves up mouthwatering fusion cuisine based on the fresh flavours of Costa Rica. What a perfect place to impress your significant other!
We highly recommend its pork belly confit featuring delicious layering of crisp skin, melty fat and moist meat, with a unique spicy kick from hot panameno chile and cilantro mayo!
Local Tours + Activities
At The Springs, your days will never boring. Their concierge team can assist you in coordinating day trips and local tours. You can go waterfall rappelling, visit the Arenal hanging bridges, fly high on the zip lines, or take a trip to the wildlife sanctuary at their sister property, La Paz Waterfall Gardens.

If that’s not enough, then take the shuttle to Club Rio! This onsite outdoor center sits alongside the Arenal River and offers the widest spectrum of activities to fill your days with action. Kayaking, river tubing, horseback riding, and rock climbing are just a few of the fun things you can do there.
Kev and I went on a guided night walk tour at Club Rio and saw the famous Costa Rican red-eyed tree frog and two-toed sloth!!! A bucket list item checked!
Whether you’re seeking pampering or adventure, The Springs Resort and Spa at Arenal can help make your Costa Rica honeymoon remarkable from beginning to end. Even if you just want an intimate vacation with your partner, the hotel will ensure your stay will be one to remember!
